Enjoy this Q&A with Brenna!
Tell us a bit about yourself and your role at Latrobe Lifeskills and how long you’ve been here.
Hello, I’m Brenna! I’ve been working with Latrobe Lifeskills since March this year. I completed my Certificate IV in Disability Support in 2023, after working as an instrumental music teacher since 2020. I believe I am a very empathetic, kind and encouraging person and Lifeskills has created an environment where I able to support participants in building their confidence and independence. I am also able to bring and utilise my skills in music, sport and craft.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies?
Outside of Lifeskills, I am in a band and a women’s footy team! I am a Carlton Blues supporter too! I also love to crochet – I am currently working on a blanket and a jumper. At home I do not have any pets, however, I foster rescued greyhounds after they are discarded from the racing industry. I love their long faces, quirky personalities and gentle nature.
What do you think makes Lifeskills unique in the way it supports participants?
I love that Lifeskills offers such a range of activities for participants to be involved in. The Participant Support workers have skills and knowledge in each activity which I believe enhances the experience for the participants. We are very committed in our support of the participants and will go the extra mile to ensure the participants get the most out of each activity.
Can you share a memorable moment or success story from your time here?
A stand out moment for me at my time with Lifeskills, would be being involved in ‘The Revolutions’ performance at the Agora on the 6th of May. It was so great to see the participants’ hard work come to life and to see the confidence they expressed while performing, it was really special.
