It was a day to remember as the Latrobe Lifeskills & Whittlesea Police Academy reached new heights with an unforgettable visit to the Victoria Police Centre.
The adventure began with a private bus ride to the venue, where excitement filled the air and anticipation built among participants and staff.
The first stop set the tone for the day – meeting members of the Public Order Response Team (PORT). Participants got an up-close look at the specialised combat gear and impressive vehicles used during public order incidents. Everyone had the chance to feel the weight of the uniforms, try on some of the gear, and even hold the shields – sparking comments about feeling like Captain America!
As the group made their way through the building, they met many police officers along the way. Each officer offered a warm welcome, taking time to chat with participants and share insights about their roles, which added a personal touch to the day.
The experience continued with a ride up to the 27th floor, where breathtaking views of Melbourne awaited.
After lunch, the group explored the Police Museum, diving into the history of the force and testing their policing skills through hands-on interactive exhibits.
A huge thank you to Inspector Chris Allen and Senior Sergeant Kristy Barker for making this incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience possible!
