Lifeskills Participants Visit the Victoria Police Mounted Branch and Dog Squad

Imagine a day filled with the thrill of meeting some of Victoria Police’s finest: not just officers, but their four-legged partners too! Participants from Latrobe Lifeskills recently had the extraordinary opportunity to visit the Victoria Police Mounted Branch and Dog Squad, gaining an exclusive behind-the-scenes look that left a lasting impression.

The day kicked off with Victoria Police members showcasing the impressive skills of their canine companions. Participants learned firsthand about the commands that guide these intelligent dogs in their crime-fighting roles. The dogs eagerly interacted with everyone, reveling in some well-deserved playtime.

Post lunch, the group ventured to the mounting yard, where majestic horses awaited. These beautiful creatures, alongside a suspicious barn cat, demonstrated their training in maintaining composure amidst various challenges like loud noises and protests. It was a testament to the dedication and expertise of the Victoria Police Mounted Branch.

For Latrobe Lifeskills participants, this day was not just educational but, it highlighted the vital role these animals play in law enforcement and provided a rare glimpse into their world. Undoubtedly, it’s an experience that will be remembered for years to for years to come.
