Over the past few weeks, we’ve been excited to welcome several placement students from La Trobe University to our Bundoora and Bendigo sites. Adriana, Nicole, Katelyn and Binuri have joined Latrobe Lifeskills as part of their practical training, bringing fresh ideas and enthusiasm while learning directly from our participants.
These placements offer meaningful benefits:
Occupational Therapy students are working closely with a small number of participants to complete assessments and develop tailored strategies and programs. For Lifeskills participants, this means free access to allied health insights that can support independence and daily living skills.
Bachelor of Health Sciences students are spending time with participants to better understand their needs and interests. They will survey participants and create resources that support learning across a wide range of topics. This ensures the tools they design are shaped by participant voices and genuinely useful in a variety of activities.
Our collaboration with La Trobe University creates a truly unique learning environment. While students gain hands-on, practical experience that simply can’t be replicated in a classroom, Latrobe Lifeskills participants enjoy new opportunities to access allied health support and co-design resources that help them learn and grow.
It’s a partnership that strengthens both sides; enhancing the education of tomorrow’s professionals while directly benefiting the people Lifeskills supports today.
