For many years now, Latrobe Lifeskills has been involved with Latrobe University Work Integrated Learning (WIL) as an Industry Partner to host student placements. In the past, this has involved hosting students from the School of Business, Public Health and Art Therapy.
Students from the School of Public Health have been involved with various projects, including education related to advocacy, goal setting for Participants and analysis of NDIS Providers in the North East Region.
This year, Latrobe Lifeskills is fortunate to be hosting a Health Science student, Nathan, for a 12-week Placement spanning August to October. Nathan is a former professional dancer who is currently studying for a Bachelor of Health Science and a Certificate IV in Allied Health. He has recently completed his placement at the Royal Children’s Hospital. In addition to his studies, Nathan is also a Respite Foster Carer.
Nathan’s project is to promote health and well-being by researching and engaging external organisations to attend Latrobe Lifeskills to speak with Participants about topics of interest. Nathan will begin by getting to know and surveying Participants and then contact organisations related to areas identified in the surveys.
We welcome Nathan to Latrobe Lifeskills and look forward to working with him on his health and well-being project and utilising his varied and extensive skills, which will greatly benefit Participants and extend Latrobe Lifeskills’ networks with external community organisations.
