It’s amazing that we are now so close to the end of the year and Christmas, but we’re still experiencing wet and cold weather! Latrobe Lifeskills extends thoughts and well wishes to those families who may be experiencing difficulties due to recent flooding in the Loddon Mallee Region.
In the previous Newsletter, I mentioned that La Trobe University Bachelor of Health Sciences placement student Nathan was attending Latrobe Lifeskills as a placement student to work on a project to organise guest speakers from various organisations to visit participants in Bundoora and Bendigo. Having guest speakers visit Latrobe Lifeskills in Bendigo and Bundoora is part of Latrobe Lifeskills’ commitment to the ongoing education of participants.
I am pleased to advise that Nathan has successfully completed his placement and as part of this process, has organised a variety of organisations who are willing to volunteer their time over the coming months to visit Latrobe Lifeskills participants in Bundoora and Bendigo. Some of whom you will read about in this newsletter.
We have confirmed future visits over the next couple of months with the following organisations: Cyberability, Metro Trains, Ambulance Victoria, Fire Rescue Victoria and Lifesavers Victoria.
Nathan has also reached out to several other organisations on behalf of Latrobe Lifeskills – our aim is to have a guest speaker/organisation visit each location at least once every two months.
All the best for the Christmas and New Year period.
