The “Recreation and Leisure in the Community” program has recently taken participants to the Eltham Library, Northland and Warrandyte parklands, wherewe enjoyed a walk in the sunshine, socialised with locals, and finished by visitingthe local bakery/café.
The intention is that through participation in recreational and social activities to various destinations, we gain confidence, familiarity and a sense of belonging in our community. Active participation through meaningful and successful interactions also develops social inclusion and presence, not only for our participants, but for the wider community in their education and understanding of people with intellectual disability.
