Latrobe Lifeskills celebrated R U OK? Day on Thursday, 6 September in a sea of yellow and with the aim of encouraging discussions about mental health among staff and participants.
R U OK? is a harm prevention charity that encourages people to stay connected and have conversations that can help others through difficult times in their lives. R U OK? Day is designed to remind everyone to have these conversations, to check in with those around them, and to take time to look after themselves.
Lifeskills provided free breakfast, and La Trobe University ran many activities for people on campus. Participants had a fantastic time getting involved in the festivities, including dance lessons and free ice cream!
Some participants in the Craft activity also made key rings with positive affirmations that now hang proudly on backpacks!
The day provided a great opportunity for all of us to discuss looking after our physical and mental health and what to do if we notice someone struggling with their mental health.
